Community Letter of Support

Support Daniel Boone Regional Library Workers United by signing our community letter and encouraging library administration to voluntarily recognize our union.

At Daniel Boone Regional Library, you might be surprised by all the services our library offers. Our staff helps provide access to rural communities, outreach services to childcares, hospitals and other institutions, educational and leisure programming, and story time for children. We offer printing services and computer help. We teach technology classes that help keep our patrons connected to loved ones. We even help the public apply for passports and provide notary services. Truly, our library is the cornerstone of our community.

As workers and members of this community, we deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. We should be paid fair wages and have access to benefits and a career path.

Please sign the following letter in support of our union and urge administration to recognize us upon demonstration of majority support.

Dear Daniel Boone Regional Library (DBRL) Board of Trustees and Leadership,

As members of the community, we stand by workers who are forming their union, Daniel Boone Regional Library Workers United. We strongly believe that the library’s mission “to be at the heart of the community,” starts by taking care of the workers who provide vital services that keep our community running. Our library serves as a warming and cooling center, it gives patrons access to technology, it provides a space for staff-lead programs that provide tools for children and adult education, and it is a safe place for those who are vulnerable. Our library is an active community center. All of this would not be possible if it wasn’t for library workers.

We believe in employees’ legal right to organize their union, without fear of retaliation or interference from administration. Fostering a safe and respectful environment in which workers can speak freely is essential to advancing the mission and strategic focus of DBRL.

We call on DBRL to fulfill its commitment to being a trusted resource and partner known for excellence, creativity, and open, equitable access by recognizing Daniel Boone Regional Library Workers United. We call on the library administration to be neutral as the workers organize their union, and to recognize them upon their demonstration of majority support.

In Solidarity,
